The first 10 days
Billie and I left Fort Stevens (Astoria) on June 10th. Eric drove us out and stayed overnight, and my mom drove out in the morning with breakfast to say goodbye.

DAY 1: Fort Stevens to Cannon Beach (Wrights)
DAY 2: Cannon Beach to ???
Nevermind
I can’t remember the days or where I stayed each night. If I go through my pictures I’m sure I could figure it out, but I love forgetting. I love seeing everything for the last time, and I love that I’ve finally gotten far enough south that each beach will be new. I took several days ‘off’ the past week, stayed at an AirBNB one night with Eric in neskowin. He drove down to say goodbye ‘one last time’ and I gave him half my gear to take home because after three days of hauling everything you realize how much you don’t really need. Billie really started branching out, she loves the hiker/biker camps because she’s the only dog and is of course the center of attention. She’s exhausted too, though, and I feel responsible. But she turned 8 years old, she’s now ‘geriatric’ according to the vet. I want to show her that the wold is hers, home is where you make yourself comfortable, and I’ve never felt more alive and ‘at home’. I hope I can teach my old bill that, that she is home anywhere and that she is comfortable and that she can see awesome scary things but be ok too. We watched a really good boy transition into life after death right before leaving.
